Death Hoax of Sharkeisha Thompson goes Viral on Twitter

Houston: Twitter was abuzz about the Death news of a 16 year old Girl Sharkeisha Thompson, who had become an Internet Celebrity last month after posting a Youtube Video of her Fight with another Girl.

Hashtags like #Prayforsharkeisha and #RIPSharkeisha has been trending for more than 12 hours on Twitter. Many of her fans were distressed and grieved and were praying for her Soul. The matter sensationalized when a Twitter Account belonging to Queen Sharkeisha, claimed that she received 2 shots and later 12 stitches, but was breathing. The account also posted a photo of a young woman in the hospital.

However it was soon clear that it was all a Death Hoax and Rumour. The Photo posted by Queen Sharkeisha was taken from a New York Post article earlier this year about a 42-year-old woman named Karen Brim who was shackled to a hospital bed for 17 days in Brooklyn.

The entire drama started when a satire website Huzlers.com  published a fake story about Sharkeisha being shot in a drive-by.

The website writes: “Houston County Coroner Paul Harris, in a statement today, said 16-year-old Sharkeisha Thompson was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a Fifth Ward hospital early Friday at about 3:30 am. Harris said a 18-year-old juvenile was also treated for gunshot wounds, but his injuries were not considered life threatening.”

Later a Tweet came from Queen Sharkeisha account claiming her getting Shot.

2 shots, 12 stitches and still breathing. THANK YOU LORD, said the Tweet.

When the story spread, and hashtags like  “RIP Sharkiesha” and “Prayforsharkeisha” began trending on Twitter.

“Sharkeisha got killed bruh? Gah damn the game [expletive] up RIP,” reads one tweet that was re-tweeted by the “Queen Sharkeisha” account.

Huzlers.com, which claims to be a comedy portal  said on Facebook “Word on the street Sharkeisha is dead… Tun tun tun”

Last month, the video of Sharkeisha punching and beating another teen, ShaMichael Manuel (below), hit the web, generating tens of millions of views on Youtube, World Star Hip Hop and other video-sharing websites.
