Meet Rakhi Birla, the Youngest Minister in Kejriwal’s Cabinet

26 Year Old Rakhi Birla is probably the youngest Minister ever sworn in the History of India. She would be taking oath along with Arvind Kejriwal on December 28 as a Cabinet Minister in Delhi Government.

She is an elected MLA from Mongolpuri (West) and had 4-time winner Raj Kumar Chauhan of Congress.

Rakhi was born in Delhi to Sheila and Bhupendra Singh Birla. She was the youngest of four daughters.

Her family was into social causes for four generations, from her great-grandfather and then grandfather who joined the struggle for India’s independence.

She did her M.A. in Mass Communication from Guru Jambeshwar University In 2010.  She lives in Mongolpuri, Delhi along with her parents.

Before joining politics, she worked as a Private News Channel Reporter apart from devoting time to few social institutes working for the causes of Valmiki community.

In the December 2013 Polls, she defeated  Raj Kumar Chauhan  by over 10,585 votes. Raj Kumar Chauhan  was the PWD minister in the Sheila Dikshit’s Cabinet and had won consecutively since 1993.
