Selena Gomez diagnosed with Lupus Disease

Singer and Actress Selena Gomez has been suffering from an autoimmune disease known as Lupus for past one year. She reportedly suspended her concerts in Australia and Asia this January due to this reason.

The news was first broken by Popdust.com and was later confirmed by several other news websites. Her representatives have however denied any comments.

As per reports, Selena was diagnosed with the disease a couple of years ago, and that it recently began flaring up.

“She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life,” a source says.

According to Popdust, “Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her lupus is really catching up with her right now.”

Last week it was announced that Selena would suspend the concerts scheduled for early January on the final stage of her tour.

A Statement by her said that she wanted to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life.

Lupus which is medically known as Lupus erythematosus is a name given to a collection of autoimmune diseases, in which the human immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissues. Symptoms of these diseases can affect many different body systems, including joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, heart, and lungs.

Almost everyone with Lupus has joint pain and swelling. Some develop arthritis. Frequently affected joints are the fingers, hands, wrists, and knees
