Uganda passes Law to Ban Mini Skirts for Women

A Day after passing Anti-Gay Law, Uganda Parliament has passed a Law that bans wearing mini-skirt by women.  Christened as  Anti-Pornography Bill 2011, this law outlaws  outlaws anything that shows sexual parts of a person such as breasts, thighs, buttocks or any erotic behavior intended to cause sexual excitement or any indecent act or behavior tending to corrupt morals, among other things..

According to BBC,  Simon Lokodo, Uganda’s ethics and integrity minister, proposed the legislation earlier this year, he said that women who wore “anything above the knee” should be arrested. The new rules could affect Uganda’s popular tabloid papers.

The parliamentary measure, which needs the president’s approval before becoming a law, has been brought in as it was felt that there has been an increase in pornography in Uganda.
