IIT Kharagpur to setup Research & Innovation Park at Rajarhat Kolkata

Kolkata: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur would set a State-of-the-Art Research & Innovation Park at Rajarhat in Kolkata.  Spread over 10 acres, the park would function as an extension of the Institute. The Park estimated to cost Rs 350 Crores, would be operational in 203 Years. IIT Kharagpur already has an Extension Center in Kolkata where it offers few academic courses.

The Research and Innovation Park would have facilities to house collaborative research laboratories of partner organisations, incubation units, and other academic and research facilities.

The Park would be connected to the main campus at Kharagpur to enable e-facilities for conduction of academic and research activities, officials said.

Various fields where Researchers are expected to contribute at the Park include Engineering Design and Manufacturing, Electronic Design Automation, Bio-Medical Informatics and Healthcare Technology, Multimedia and Image Processing, Communication and Networking, Energy Management, Water Ocean Urban and Regional Informatics, etc.

IIT Kharagpur also plans to setup similar parks at Gopali and Kansabati areas of Kolkata in future.
