Phone based Community Radio fighting Child Marriages in Bihar

Gramvani is a Radio-over-phone platform being implemented in Rural areas of Bihar and Jharkhand connecting people from different villages in order to share information. It is based on Interactive Voice Response System  (IVRS) where people to call into a number and leave a message about their community or listen to messages left by others.

It is being implemented by Breakthrough,  a global Human Rights Organization, which had earlier implemented it in Pilot Phase for a Ban Child Marriage Campaign in August 2013. 

The Organization aims to involve the people in dialogues that is crucial for bringing about any social change with respect to range of issues like health, infant mortality agriculture, domestic violence and gender discrimination.

Gramvani allows people to  listen to various audio interviews, radio drama and discussion programs related to child marriage and other social causes. People can also broadcast their Ideas, Opinion on these issues. They can also report cases of Child Marriages, Domestic Violence to Authorities using Gramvani.
