Shankaracharya slaps Journalist over Question on Narendra Modi

Jabalpur: Shankaracharya of Dwarka peeth Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati has created a controversy when he slapped a Journalist in public for asking questions about Narendra Modi.

As per TV Reports, the Shankaracharya was in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh to attend a religious ceremony. When a news channel reporter wanted to know his views on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the seer lost his cool and slapped the reporter instead. Later, he warned him not to ask Questions on Politics.

Later, he tried to diffuse the situation by saying “I’ve no objection in Narendra Modi becoming PM, but he must clarify to people what he wants”.

There has been different political reaction on this issue. While Congress has openly come out in support of the Shankaracharya, BJP has taken a balanced standing.

Swami Swaroopananda assumed the title of Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth in 1982. He is considered close to Indian National Congress.
