BJP Workers protest over Minister’s Involvement in Fake Voting Case

Gurgaon: The BJP yesterday protested against police inaction in a case of alleged fake voting by Haryana’s Sports and Youth Minister Sukhbir Kataria.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers led by state spokesperson Umesh Aggarwal handed over a memorandum to Police Commissioner Alok Mittal over inaction in cases against Kataria for allegedly indulging in bogus voting during the 2009 Haryana assembly elections.

Aggarwal was pitted against independent candidate Kataria from Gurgaon. Kataria won and was later included in the cabinet by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The BJP memorandum said orders were issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and three complaints were registered by police against Kataria in the fake voting scandal but nothing was done.

It said there were several cases against Kataria in the nine district courts of Gurgaon.

The police commissioner assured the BJP workers of action soon.
