Highlights of Bihar State Budget for 2014-15

The Bihar Budget for 2014-15 was presented in Bihar Legislative Assembly on February 17 by Minister-In-Charge Vijay Chowdhary. Following are the highlights of the Budget:

1. Total Budget Expenditure of Rs. 1,16,886.16 Crores which itself is a record. 80% on the funds would be spent on Development Works. No New Taxes Introduced this year.

2. The Budget focused primarily on Agriculture, Electricity, Road Construction, Social Welfare and Education

3. Government to distribute Free Sanitary Napkins to 30 Lakh Girls studying in Class 7-12 in various schools.

4. Proposal to setup 5 New Private Universities in Bihar during 2014-15.

5. Construction of Mega Food Parks at Banka and Mansi.

6. Rs. 821 Crores allotted for Industrial Development.

7. Allocation of Rs. 154 Crores for Tourism Development.

8. The Bihar Museum being constructed on Bailey Road would open to all on March 22, 2015.

9. Government would construct a Buddha Smriti Stupa in Vaishali. 73 Acres of Land have been acquired for this.

10. Govt has doubled  the Incentive for Inter-Caste Marriage to Rs. 50000.

11. Road Construction Department allotted 4898 Crores.

12. Development of Tourist Placed like Mandar Hill at Banka, Maya Saraovar Bodh Gaya and  Mundeshwari Devi Temple Kaimur.

13. Starting of Ganga Aarti at Buxar, Munger and Bhagalpur.

14. Construction of Ropeway at Rohtashgarh Fort.

15. Construction of Buddha Statue at Ghora Katora Lake at Rajgir.
