20 Feet from Stardom wins Best Documentary Feature at Oscar Awards 2014

Los Angeles: Morgan Neville, Gil Friesen and Caitrin Rogers’ ’20 Feet from Stardom’ won Oscar for the best documentary feature at the award ceremony held here Sunday.

The movie is about background singers heard on many of the 20th century’s greatest songs and have made a crucial contribution to the world of pop music while remaining unknown to listeners.

Best documentary short subject Oscar was given to ‘The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life’ by Malcolm Clarke and Nicholas Reed. It revolves around a 109-year-old Alice Herz Sommer, the world’s oldest pianist and Holocaust survivor.

Best live action short film award was handed over to Anders Walter and Kim Magnusson for ‘Helium’. It is about a dying boy, who finds comfort in the tales of a magical land called Helium, told to him by the hospital janitor.
