Kathmandu: Inspector General of Nepal Police, Upendra Kanta Aryal, will go on a six-day official visit to India Sunday upon the invitation of the Indian government
The last such visit took place some 20 years back in 1994 when then IGP of Nepal Police Moti Lal Bohra made an official visit. After that, no IG of Nepal Police has gone to India on an official visit.
According to Nepal Police spokesperson Ganesh KC, during the visit to India, IGP Aryal will meet senior Indian police officials including Home Secretary Anil Goswami, and Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sen Bassi.
Basically it is a goodwill visit during which the entire gamut of bilateral security matters and issues will be discussed, said KC.
Ranging from curbing cross-border crimes, terrorism, enhancing bilateral security cooperation and coordination, training for Nepal Police personnel and learning Indian best policing practices are on the agenda.
“Matters like mutual cooperation and real time information sharing are also included in the agenda,” said KC.
Some Indian assistance to Nepal Police, which is under consideration of New Delhi, will also be discussed for early materialisation, said officials.
DIG Administration of Nepal Police Surendra Bahadur Shah, DIG Training Ganesh Bahadur Rai, and Senior Superintendent of Police Devendra Subedi will accompany Aryal during the visit.
According to the itinerary provided by KC, Aryal and his delegation will Monday meet the director general of the Bureau of Police Research and Development.
Later in the day, he will meet Delhi Police Commissioner Bassi.
On Tuesday too he will meet senior police officers, before meeting Indian Home Secretary Goswami.
On Wednesday and Thursday he will visit Lucknow and Patna and meet senior police officials.
After staying over in Patna Thursday, the delegation will return to Kathmandu via New Delhi Friday.
