Telugu actor Nanduri Uday Kiran and a Nigerian arrested for drug trafficking

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police Monday arrested Telugu film actor Nanduri Uday Kiran and a Nigerian national for drug trafficking. They were apprehended at Jubilee Hills checkpost and seized 15 grams of cocaine, a police official said.

The arrests were made when Uday Kiran was transacting a drug deal with R. O. Kehinde, a Nigerian, who had come to India on business visa and staying in the city.

According to police, 29-year-old Nanduri Uday Kiran, who acted in films like “Parare”, “Rakshakulu”, “Yuvarajyam” and “Facebook”, was receiving the drugs from the other accused whenever required.

The Nigerian, also aged 29, was indulging in drug trafficking in Bangalore and Hyderabad. He was procuring drugs from Hakeem, a Sudanese national residing in Delhi, for Rs.1,500 per gram, and selling the same to his contacts for Rs.2,000 to Rs.3,000.

During the last four years, police busted several drug rackets involving actors of Tollywood, their family members and foreigners, mostly Nigerians.
