23 old Camila Estico of Beau Vallon has been crowned Miss Seychelles…Another World 2014. She would represent Seychelles in Miss World Beauty Pageant to be held in December 2014.

She was crowned by outgoing beauty queen Agnes Gerry on Saturday evening at Savoy Resort and Spa Beau Vallon. Apart from the coveted crown, Camila won the Miss Talent and Miss Photogenic titles.

As Miss Seychelles…Another World 2014, Camila wishes to promote healthy lifestyles, which she believes is key to a beautiful life. She is deeply concerned with the issues of healthy living and how to curb obesity in young children.

During the pageant, Camila and the other 11 contestants paraded in resort, casual and swim wears. The last round was all about pure elegance and stunning evening gowns.

After announcing the winners of the seven other titles, the panel of jury had to decide on the finalists.

Wearing a striking long black dress, Michaella Rosette won the best evening gown title, Ronda Sidonie was the winner of People’s Choice award while Stephanie Duval won the Miss Personality title.

The Miss Sports title went to Raphaella Dugasse and Elmina Savy was awarded as the contestant who made the best effort with her project.

The seven ladies who made it through were Raphaela Dugasse, Camila Estico, Marvel Godley, Annabel Pointe, Lisa Rose, Elmina Savy and Ronda Sidonie. Responding to the judges’ questions was the next challenging task for the finalists.

Finally, the moment had arrived to crown the 2014 beauty queen. Before Camila’s crowning, the first and second princesses were crowned. The First Princess title went to 19-year old Praslinoise Lisa Rose while Marvel Godley who is also from the same island was crowned as Second Princess.

In a short address, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) chief executive Sherin Naiken said the 12 contestants demonstrate the diverse cosmopolitan culture.

Miss Naiken added that they are destined to bigger and better things.

She said being a beauty queen in this world is a job. The girls should be encouraged to be role models to the younger generation.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange said the 12 contestants are already winners, for they have come forward to take part in this contest.

“What we are doing is putting our culture in the forefront, the culture of a nation is in the heart and soul of its people. This is why Miss Seychelles…Another World becomes our ambassador at the STB,” he said. Our culture plays a part today and will continue to play a part tomorrow in the marketing of our destination, Mr St.Ange added.

Before crowning the new beauty queen, Agnes Gerry expressed words of thanks to all those who had supported her throughout her journey as Miss Seychelles 2013.
