FIR against 500 for striping, assaulting woman in Bihar

Patna: An FIR was lodged Friday against 500 unidentified people in Bihar for striping and assaulting a middle-aged woman in public for allegedly kidnapping two men, whose bodies were found later, police said.

The incident took place in Jehanabad district Wednesday night. Sangita Devi, in her 40s, was stripped and assaulted for allegedly kidnapping the men, who were involved in a land deal with her in Nizamuddinpur village, 50 km from here.

Aditya Kumar, district superintendent of police, said a case was lodged against 500 unidentified people in this shocking incident. “Police will take action against those found involved in the case,” he added.

The officer said another FIR was lodged against four people, including the woman, by father of one of the two men. “Till now, no arrest has been made in connection with the incident,” he said.

A team of top officials, including deputy inspector general (Magadh Range) Pradip Kumar Srivastav, visited Jehanabad Friday to take stock of the situation.

The bodies of the two men were found Thursday near Sigouri in Patna, police said.

Police said some people barged into the woman’s house and forced her out. They vandalised her house and then stripped and beat her up in the presence of other villagers. The woman sustained severe injuries and was admitted to hospital.
