Railways increases Fund Allocations to Northeastern States by 54%

Railways have allocated an outlay of Rs.5,116 crore for projects in the North-East. This is 54% jump over allocations in the previous year.

Presenting the Railway Budget in Parliament today the Minister of Railways Shri D. V. Sadananda Gowda said that there are 23 projects underway in the Northeast, of which 11 are National Projects.

The Minister expressed the hope that Dudhnoi-Mendipathar New Line; Lumding-Badarpur-Silchar Gauge Conversion; Harmuti-Murkongselek and Balipara- Bhalukpong sections will soon get commissioned.
