NTPC Barh Super Thermal Power Plant to be inaugurated on 15th November

Patna: The Phase 2 of NPTC Super Thermal Power Station at Barh would be inaugurated on November 15 by Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal. He would also inaugurate The Phase 2 of Kanti Thermal Power Project in Muzaffarpur, also managed by NTPC in association with Bihar State Power Holding Company Ltd.

Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi met the Union Power Minister on Monday in New Delhi and apprised him of the prevailing power situation in Bihar. He also demanded assistance for fast execution of new power projects like Lakhisarai Thermal Power Plant and Pirpainti Thermal Power Plant.

The Phase 2 of NTPC Barh project has the capacity of 1,320MW (2×660 MW) and has been built by BHEL. Bihar would receive 50% of its Power Output. The total approved cost of Phase 2 unit is Rs 7,688.12 crore.

The Phase 2 was commissioned in November 2013, but commercial production did not start due to technical issues.

The foundation stone of NTPC Barh was laid on March 6, 1999 by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The Kanti Thermal Power Plant has an installed capacity of 2x110MW. The Phase 2 of the Project has the capacity of 2x195MW.
