Patna: The Central University of Bihar (CUB) has been renamed to Central University of South Bihar via a notification published in the Gazette of India on December 18, 2014.

The name was changed after its campus was relocated from Patna to Gaya. A permanent campus of 300 acres is being established at Gaya, the foundation stone of which was laid in February last year.

The Central University of Bihar was established by the Government of India under the Central Universities Act, 2009 and had been operating from BIT Mesra Campus in Patna since then.
