IIM Bodh Gaya to start operations from Magadh University Campus

Bodh Gaya: The proposed Indian Institute of Management at Bodh Gaya in Bihar would start its operations from the Magadh University Campus. The institute is already contemplating to start the academics from 2015-16 session onwards.

A permanent campus for the IIM is likely to come up at neighbourhood. The State Government has already finalized a 150 acre chunk of land for this purpose and the Union HRD Ministry has approved it, according to reports.

IIM Indore would be roped in as the mentor institute for the proposed institute. However, it would be fully autonomous institute running its own courses and awarding its own degrees. Earlier the Centre wanted IIM Calcutta to be the mentor, however this could not be agreed upon.

With this, Gaya would emerge as the next educational hub in Bihar. Apart from the historical Magadh University, it has a Central University, Indian Army’s Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), a medical college and an engineering college while an Administrative Training Institute is under construction.
