Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar Administration has punished a Professor accused on mentally harassing two girl students. The professor has been forbidden to hold any administrative posts in future at the institute. A decision regarding this was taken by the Board of Governors of IITBBS, according to a report in TOI. The accused professor holds the post of the Dean and Head of Department.
Last April, the 2 girls had lodged a complaint with the Director of IITBBS accusing the 49 year old professor of mental agony and harassment on several occasions. They complained, that on one occasion, the Professor asked them to visit him and talk to him regularly or he would spoil their grade and career. He even tried to barge into their residence, according to the complaint.
A 7 member enquiry committee was set up last year to probe the allegations against the professor, while the administration sent him on leave.
