Mumbai: The 12th edition of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon concluded in Mumbai yesterday, with maiden marathon runner Tesfaye Abera of Ethiopia winning the men’s elite race in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 46 seconds.
‘Run Mumbai Run!’, the slogan reverberated on streets of Mumbai early Sunday morning when old, young, and the champions came out in a herd to give the Mumbai Marathon a big start. Runners ran the race for a cause spreading the message of health, unity, and a purpose. Apart from the full marathon and the half marathon, the annual event included a corporate champion race, a police cup, a dream run, a senior citizen’s run and a run for champions with disability.
Several Bollywood stars came on the roads of Mumbai for the Mumbai Marathon. John Abraham, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rahul Bose and Dia Mirza were among the few Bollywood celebrities who could be spotted. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP spokesperson Shaina NC were also seen cheering the Mumbaikars.
