Bangalore Ernakulam Train Derailment kills 10, injuring over 100

Hosur: At least 10 people were killed and 100 people have reportedly been injured after nine compartments of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity Express were derailed near the border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The accident took place at around 7:45AM today morning, an hour after the train started from Bangalore City Station.

While, the cause of derailment is not yet known, it is being said by passengers that 2 bogies toppled due to derailment.

The Karnataka Police and voluntary rescue workers arrived at the scene around half an hour of the accident.

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted that an enquiry has been ordered, while the relief trains have been dispatched to the accident site. He also promised prompt ex-gratia compensation.
