Addressing mediapersons in Patna, he said on Friday that he has been invited to form government in the state. Nitish met Governor KN Tripathi in Patna and staked his claim to form the next government after his protege Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned hours before he was supposed to face the trust vote in Bihar Assembly today.

On February 20, Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned ahead of Floor Test in the Assembly. Manjhi said he made the move keeping the welfare of Bihar public in mind. He said if he would not have resigned then his MLAs would have been harmed and there was even a possibility of a mishap in the Assembly today with JD(U) trying everything to get into power.
