Bihar to symbiotically combine Solar Power with Pisciculture

Patna: Bihar Government has floated a unique proposal in which the Solar Energy Energy generation would be combined with Pisciculture, or fish production as it is commonly called.

Solar cell in Bihar

In a power scarce state like Bihar, Solar Cells are one of the primary means of electricity

According to the request for proposal floated by state run Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd, the bidders will identify such sites and lease or buy such ponds from the company. The Power generated would be purchased by the company at rates starting from Rs. 9.85 per kWhr. A bidder can bid for up to 30 MW. The net worth criterion is Rs 3 crore per MW up to 20 MW and Rs 2 crore per MW thereafter.

The idea behind such a proposal is that the solar panels would provide required shading from high temperature and would boost fish productivity. At the same time it would generate power for regular consumption.
