Center deputes 2 Teams of NDRF for Flood Rescue Operations in Kashmir

The Ministry of Home Affairs has said in a statement that is in touch with the state government of Jammu & Kashmir and closely monitoring the situation of increasing water levels in Jhelum River at Srinagar. No breach of embankment has been reported.

However, as a precautionary measure, to assist the state government authorities, two teams of NDRF have been deputed and another four teams kept stand-by.

The state government has been asked to indicate the assistance required by them.

According to live reports from Kashmir, Six to seven families have been trapped and their lives are at risk in flash flood-hit Chandak area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Incessant rains, meanwhile, across the Jammu division have disrupted normal life. A portion of Jammu-Srinagar highway has been damaged following landslides due to which the vehicular traffic has been stopped as a precautionary measure.
