Dimapur: Curfew has been relaxed in Nagaland on Saturday where situation is limping back to normalcy.

Police invoked curfew under Section 144 of the Indian Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) after a group of angry mob lynched a rape-accused to death after dragging him out of a high security prison in Nagaland. The residents faced several problems because of the curfew imposed.

The incident brought to light the ineffective judicial system in the country and slow law and order procedure while dealing with cases of rape and murder.

After three days of continuous tension, relaxation on curfew comes as a breather to the residents. Saturday morning experienced a fare number of crowds and vehicles on road. Shops were also opened after two days of the incident.

Meanwhile, various political leaders opined differently on the incident. BJP leaders GVL Narasimha Rao and Subramanian Swamy said that law needs to be stricter in punishing rape accused. Senior Lawyer KTS Tulsi said that people are getting impatient with delays in justice.

Congress leader Manish Tewari said that it is a dangerous sign as well as a sign of impatience among the people. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that the Central government has failed to take law seriously which is why people take law in their hands.
