It appears that several of the MLAs who had supported Jitan Ram Manjhi earlier, voted for Nitish Kumar this time. BJP MLAs walked out of the assembly in protest.

Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi had asked Nitish to prove majority on the floor of the House after he took over as the Chief Minister following Jitan Ram Manjhi’s resignation.

The Janata Dal (United) had issued whip to its MLAs to vote in favour of confidence vote presented by the government. JD (U) exuded confidence.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who had openly revolted against the party has absented himself from the inaugural sitting of the joint session of Bihar Legislature after which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will take the trust vote.

Manjhi claims that he is an unattached member to the party and no whip is applicable upon him.
