Piku, starring Amitabh, Deepika and Irrfan, to release on 8 May

Bollywood movie Piku, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone would release across India on May 8.

It is being directed by Soorjit Sircar and produced by MSM Motion Pictures along with Saraswati Creations and Rising Sun Films. Piku will be distributed worldwide by Yash Raj Films. It is a comedy film and deals with a father-daughter relationship.

The Movie has been shot extensively in Kolkata and it was reported that Deepika had to learn Bengali from actress Moushumi Chatterjee for this purpose.

The makers of the film released a video of day one on the sets of Piku which is called Piku Begins. The video has Amitabh Bachchan, Shoojit Sircar and Deepika Padukone speaking about what viewers can expect from the film. Amitabh Bachchan plays the character of an old Bengali man with long hair and a big belly.

The Shooting of the film began in August 2014 and it was shot extensively in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad and Varanasi. Some of the noted locations where the film was shot include the iconic Howrah Bridge in the Kolkata’s Shyambazar neighbourhood and at Bishop Lefroy Road, the residence of Satyajit Ray, Gurgaon Gurgaon cyber hub and Gurgaon city club and the Ghats of Varanasi. During the shooting at Howrah Bridge, Amitabh Bachchan was seen cycling around the city streets dressed as his character.
