It is designed by Dutch company DUS Architects using a 3D printer 10 times the size of ordinary ones. The Printer has been named KamerMaker, which means Room Builder, and they’ve built it out of a shipping container, with the goal to 3D print an entire house, according to inhabitat.com.

Using bio-plastics, the on-site printer can create the pieces of a canal home that the firm is currently building as an experiment over the next few years.

The team behind the house claim it is a waste-free, eco-friendly way to design and construct the cities of the future.

“The building industry is one of the most polluting and inefficient industries out there,” says Hedwig Heinsman of Dus Architects. “With 3D-printing, there is zero waste, reduced transportation costs, and everything can be melted down and recycled. This could revolutionise how we make our cities.”
