Bihar Government dismisses 2734 Teachers from Service

Patna: In one of the biggest layoff exercises on recent times in Government Sector, the Bihar Government has dismissed 2734 teachers from service after they failed the competency test. The decision was taken after Patna High Court ordered their dismissal.

Due to this, 7 Teachers in Gopalganj, 109 in East Champaran, 229 in Katihar, 207 in Supaul, 4 in Arwal, 8 in Sheohar, 358 in Kishanganj, 156 in Madhubani, 236 in Purnia, 104 in Darbhanga, 143 in MAdhepura, 301 in Araria, 8 in Rohtas, 6 in Sheikhpura and 6 Teachers in Jahanabad have been dismissed from service.

The High Court had also criticized the Government for its failure in past to remove those teachers failing the competency test twice, despite there being a provision to dismiss them.
