Bihar increases ex-gratia compensation for Natural Disasters to Rs. 5 Lakhs

Bihar Government has increased the ex gratia compensation for Deaths due to Natural Disasters from Rs. 1.5 Lakhs to Rs. 5 Lakhs. It has also doubled the compensation in case of crop loss and damages due to natural such disasters.

Further, incidents like Boat Accidents, Excessive Rainfall, Untimely Rainfall etc have also been brought under the ambit of Natural Disasters.

Last week itself, more than 20 people were killed due to thunderstorm in the state. It had also damaged crops such as Masoor, Wheat to a large extent. The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had ordered Rs. 2 Lakh compensation to the next kin of each dead person, out of which Rs. 1.5 Lakh was from Disaster Management Fund and Rs. 50,000 from the CM Relief Fund.
