JEE Main Results website suffers downtime due to high volume of traffic

CBSE was set to declare the results of JEE Main 2015 at 10AM today, according to several news reports. However, the CBSE Results website has been suffering considerable downtime since morning.

When our team tried to access the website, it gave the message “502 Bad Gateway – Response Error, a bad response was received from another proxy server or the destination origin server”.

Why this happened?

According to our Engineering Team, this happens when the total number of concurrent requests crosses the maximum limit specified in the server. This limit is directly related to the maximum available resources to the server hardware. Under such circumstances, the server is unable to spawn new threads to cater to new requests.

Going by the text of error message, we can confirm that the CBSE Website is using nginx web server, a very powerful server designed for handling heavy load websites. Infact, Biharprabha.com and news.biharprabha.com also uses nginx due to heavy loads.

What to do?

Stay calm and keep on trying. After few hours the load will diminish and you can easily view your results. This is quite common on the day of results or any major announcement.

Donot visit any 3rd party website claiming to provide you the results. When you make a Google Search you will find almost all websites claiming to provide you with the results. Please note that CBSE does not provide results to any other 3rd party websites and it is only hosted on cbseresults.nic.in You can read more about it here.
