Massive Fire and Looting becomes synonymous to Baltimore after Freddie Gray’s Death

Baltimore (USA): Fires and looting continue into the night Monday across the city of Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray who died after he was injured in police custody.

Here flames shoot into the sky as a massive fire engulfs a senior center at a church in East Baltimore.

Elsewhere, more buildings were set on fire… and here a car burns in the middle of an intersection.

This comes on the same day 25-year-old Freddie Gray was laid to rest.

Freddie Gray’s mother urged the public to remain calm.

“I want you all to get justice for my son, but don’t do it like this here.”, she said.

After several days of peaceful protests, violence erupted during the day Monday as looters broke into liquor stores, shopping malls and sacked check-cashing stores.

Pastor Jamal Harrison said the events that unfolded were amongst the most shocking in the city’s history.

“We thought we were turning a corner only to come back to our shock and surprise, to know that we are seeing one of the worst moments in our city’s history”, he said.

Earlier in the night Maryland Governor Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard.

A citywide curfew will be imposed starting Tuesday.
