Narendra Modi donates 1 month’s Salary to PM National Relief Fund

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has donated one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to help with relief work for those affected in the massive earthquake that hit Nepal and parts of India.

The official twitter account of the Prime Minister’s Office shared the information. “PM has donated one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, for assistance to those affected by the recent earthquake,” it said.

Furthermore, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday also wrote to Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, expressing her grief for the devastation caused by the massive earthquake that resulted in the death of thousands. “I am deeply grieved and shocked by the devastation caused by the massive earthquake in Nepal and the aftershocks that followed.

The tragic loss of thousands of lives and the enormity of destruction has saddened us all. I myself and on behalf of the members of the Indian National Congress, convey our heartfelt condolences to the people of Nepal,” Sonia Gandhi wrote.
