Abducted Doctor couple of Bihar freed from Lucknow after 5 Days

Gaya: Dr. Pankaj Gupta and his wife Subhra, who were kidnapped last Friday along with their brand new Audi Car have been freed and returned today morning from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Police have arrested 9 kidnappers along with the gang leader, who was a small time politician and had reportedly contested 1991 General Election.

According to reports, the gang abducted the doctor couple from the outskirts of Gaya, by posing as Policemen. Later, they placed a red beacon on Doctor’s Audi Car and two other cars to give it a look of VIP Convoy, and drove to Uttar Pradesh.

Bihar’s Director General of Police P K Thakur also confirmed their return and said that no ransom was paid.

A Search operation by Police also recovered over 20 police uniforms and red beacons from the gang’s hideout in Lucknow.

The Couple was abducted with their Audi Car on Friday (May 1), sometimes after 1:30PM. At around 3PM, when relatives tried to contact them, their cellphones were switched off.

The Indian Medical Association had given a 72 hours ultimatum to the Police for tracing the couple, which got over on Monday. IMA had also threatened to paralyse the medical services across Bihar if the couple was not traced.

Gupta is a famous pediatrician in Gaya and hails from a well-to-do business family. His family owns a Hero Honda sales agency in Gaya. Gupta was also a member of Gaya Chamber of Commerce.
