Bolivia Policemen save a Rapist from Community Justice

Sucre: An angry mob in the Bolivian capital attempted to lynch a man on Friday night (May 8) who had allegedly tried to assault two girls at a school during a parents’ evening.

Television footage showed the alleged attacker being severely beaten by a group of people said to be parents of children attending the school and residents of the area.

A group of policemen arrived on the scene and struggled to remove the man from the area as the mob attacked him.

Local media reported that parents who were at the school meeting with teachers heard screams coming from a school toilet and went to investigate and found the man allegedly attempting to assault two young girls.

Bolivian authorities, in addition to international organizations such as the United Nations, have voiced their concern about mob lynching in the Andean nation. Lynching of suspected criminals is a common practice in Bolivia where is it is often viewed as form of “community justice.”
