Congress MLA Kunwar Pranav Champion’s guards fire at Villagers in Haridwar

Haridwar, May 30 (ANI): Congress MLA from Khanpur, Kunwar Pranav Champion, has allegedly got involved in a firing incident at Bishanpur Kundi village of Haridwar.

Reportedly Champion’s guards opened fire at a quarrying field for nearly half an hour and many rounds of fire were opened leading to many injuries.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter and investigation is going on. Villagers alleged firing had been done by Champion and his supporters, who arrived in dozen-odd jeeps. They added that many rounds of firing took place and people are in a state of threat.

As per Champion, he was on an inspection visit to the quarrying lots to gauge the illegal quarrying being done in the area. But he found that in veil of villagers, a mob, purportedly quarrying mafia, attacked his entourage and then his guards opened fire in defence.

Notably, Champion has a controversial past and had fired openly at a dinner hosted by Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat in September 2013 and also a hotel owner in Roorkee in 2012 after he was denied a room there.
