Mumbai, May 30 (ANI): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that the date for implementing ‘One Rank One Pension’ (OROP) scheme for ex-servicemen is not precise. OROP has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen’s associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement. Speaking at a seminar in Mumbai, Parrikar said this scheme was not understood by the previous Congress government properly. There are many fine prints and aspects that need to be considered. On Saturday Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, had met representatives of former military personnel and war widows at the party headquarters in New Delhi and assured to mount pressure on the central government to get the scheme implemented at the earliest.
