Hurley, a long-time supporter of the foundation and the event’s emcee, says she will continue to champion the cause until breast cancer is eradicated.

“I’ve been raising funds and awareness for the charity for the last 20 years and in that time we’ve seen great strides in research but we also know that there are a lot of people who still need our help and we still need to get more results in research and that’s why we’re here, to raise more funds, to raise more awareness until there’s a day where there’s no more breast cancer”, Hurley said.

With their performances, Sir Elton John and crooner Tony Bennett helped to bring the total for the fundraiser to nearly $7 million (USD).

Since its inception in 1993 the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded by Evelyn Lauder, has raised more than $550 million (USD) for research.
