Former Egypt Prez Hosni Mubarak sentenced 3 years in Jail without Parole over Corruption Charges

Cairo: Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak returns to court in Cairo, where his retrial on corruption charges lands him three years in prison without parole.

A judge handed out Mubarak’s sentencing on Saturday. He also gave Mubarak’s two sons the same punishment.

Mubarak was sentenced last May to three years on charges that he used public funds to upgrade family properties.

But in January, Egypt’s high court overturned the conviction and sent it back to court.

He may not have to serve any jail time for this latest sentencing though as he’s already spent that time in prison in other cases.

Mubarak, who ruled Egypt with an iron first for 30 years, was toppled during the Arab Spring uprisings that swept the region in 2011.
