J AND K CM says govt will achieve objective on AFSPA, politicos react

New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Political reactions flowed in on Sunday over Jammu and Kasmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s statement that his government would “achieve its objective” with regard to the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the state. Two days after Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said AFSPA is “mandatory if the Army is to operate in Kashmir”, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that the PDP-BJP coalition government will “achieve its objective”. In its alliance agenda, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had said that the state government would find ways to denotify the disturbed areas Act, paving the way for revocation of AFSPA.
