Jammu Bandh called on 27th May against shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir

Jammu: A complete Jammu Bandh/Shutdown has been called on 27th May 2015 by AIIMS Coordination Committee against the shifting of proposed branch of All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences from Jammu to Kashmir Region. AIIMS Coordination Committee is a group of over 70 non-political organizations and unions. Traders, Commerce and Industries (CCI), transporters and other organisations have fully supported the bandh. Additionally the Bandh has been supported by Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party.

The bandh coincides with the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Jammu and Kashmir. The Bandh would remain enforced whole day and normalcy would be restored probably after 6PM.

AIIMS Coordination Committee is led by Abhinav Sharma who is also the president of Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) and the committee was formed with the sole intention to prevent the migration of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir. In its debut meeting, the committee unanimously decided to observe Jammu bandh on May 27, when Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the city for the first time.

The committee has also given an ultimatum to the Centre and 26 legislatures of Jammu to come clean on their stand on AIIMS within 10 days.

On April 24, the Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) had observed a complete Jammu Bandh protesting against the shifting of AIIMS. This time also they are supporting the Bandh.
