Jayalalithaa to take oath as Tamil Nadu CM at Madras University Centenary Hall

Chennai, May 23 (ANI): AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fifth time at the Madras University Centenary Hall at 11 am on Saturday.

Governor K Rosaiah will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Jayalalithaa along with 28 other ministers. Meanwhile in Chennai, supporters are in celebratory mode, amid tightened security. On Friday, the Governor had invited Jayalalithaa to form the government after AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam submitted his resignation as Chief Minister of the state.

AIADMK MLAs had unanimously elected Jayalalithaa as their leader, thereby, paving way for her to become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

She was acquitted by the Karnataka High Court in the 19-year-old disproportionate assets case earlier this month. In September last year, she was forced to step down as the Chief Minister following her conviction by the court.
