Leading Doctor abducted in Gaya, Bihar Police clueless even after 72 hours

Patna: The Police in Bihar is unable to trace the whereabouts of the abductors of Dr. Pankaj Gupta, a leading pediatrician in Gaya, and his wife Shubhra Gupta.  The Couple was abducted with their Audi Car on Friday (May 1), sometimes after 1:30PM. At around 3PM, when relatives tried to contact them, their cellphones were switched off.

The last location of their cellphones was traced near Bhadeya village of Gaya district and it is suspected that the abduction took place there itself.

A case of suspected kidnapping has been registered with Barachatti police station of Gaya. The Police has also setup a special task force to ensure safe return of duo.

No demand for ransom has been made so far. However since, the couple were travelling in their brand new Audi, and it could also not be recovered yet. It is suspected that some criminal gangs operational along Bihar-Jharkhand Border might have kidnapped them.

The Indian Medical Association had given a 72 hours ultimatum to the Police for tracing the couple, which gets over today. IMA had also threatened to paralyse the medical services across Bihar if the couple is not traced.

Gupta is a famous pediatrician in Gaya and hails from a well-to-do business family. His family owns a Hero Honda sales agency in Gaya. Gupta was also a member of Gaya Chamber of Commerce.
