LG must act on advice of CM, otherwise parliamentary democracy itself fails: Rajeev Dhawan on Delhi

New Delhi, May 19 (ANI): Senior advocate of Supreme Court Rajeev Dhawan, who was been approached for legal consultation by the Delhi government on the ongoing row over the appointment of IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary of the city, on Tuesday said that the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung is playing a game and the current crisis has been created ‘entirely’ by him. Talking to medaipersons on his opinion over the issue which he has sent to the government, he said that Parliamentary democracy in Delhi is no different from Parliamentary democracy in a State or at the Centre. Constitution says that the LG will be aided and advised by the Chief Minister and Jung must act on advice of Arvind Kejriwal otherwise parliamentary democracy itself fails. He added that the Chief Minister is for tenure of five years but the LG has the option to resign.
