Maoists abduct 500 Villagers in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

Raipur: After Naxals in Sukma district took 500 villagers as hostage ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dantewada, BJP leader Srichand Sundrani said that the government will not bend down to such actions. Describing the act of taking hostage as ‘cowardice’, Sundrani says this is how Naxals wanted to mark their presence during the PM’s visit. The villagers were on way to participate in the PM’s rally when Naxals kidnapped them.

Security has been stepped up in Chhattisgarh in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. According to reports, over 15,000 security officials have been deployed in the state to prevent any untoward incident. The bomb disposal squads have also been pressed into action. Unmanned aerial vehicles have also been deployed for aerial surveillance. The Maoists have called for a protest and asked the villagers in Dantewada district to boycott the Prime Minister’s event. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the education city and Livelihood College in Dantewada. The prime minister, who would be addressing a public meeting, will also interact with the children and youth from the tribal communities.
