No respite from heat waves across India, death toll rises

Bhubaneswar/ Pune, May 26 (ANI): Heat wave claimed 28 lives in Odisha where the temperature has been recorded between 40 to 46 degree Celsius in the past few days, informed officials. On Monday, the mercury soared to 45.4 degree Celsius in the capital city of Bhubaneswar whereas on Sunday (May 24) it was recorded to be at 46 degree Celsius or above at six places and over 40 degree Celsius at 19 places across the state. Director of Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar, Doctor Sharat Chandra Sahu, said the tendency of rising temperature or heat wave condition would continue for another four to five days. In Pune also, where the temperature has been hovering around 43 degree Celsius, people reeled under scorching sun and extreme heat wave.
