Police arrest hardcore Maoist leader in Madhya Pradesh

Balaghat, May 23 (ANI): Police arrested a hardcore Maoist leader in Madhya Pradesh, said a senior officer. The accused, identified as Dilip Markam alias Goha, is wanted in 130 cases against him in three rebel-afflicted states. He has a cash reward of over two million rupees on his head. Inspector General of Police, DC Sagar said Markam joined the Maoist cadre in 1995 and currently headed an armed unit of the rebels. The Maoists, also known as Naxals in India, are inspired by the political philosophy of China’s late Chairman, Mao Zedong. They claim they fight for the rights of poor farmers and landless labourers.
