School in Gujarat takes green initiative by reducing carbon emission

Rajkot, May 23 (ANI): A school in Gujarat has taken green initiative by reducing carbon emissions with the help of a solar plant and setting a trend in the region. The roof-top project at Shamji Velji Virani School in Rajkot city, which was completed last month, not only saves the electricity bill but also helps protect the environment. More schools in Rajkot and the adjoining areas want to emulate this practice because it is cost-effective and government provides subsidy for installations. The rapidly falling cost of solar power has ignited interest in its potential in Asia’s third-largest economy, which relies on coal for three-fifths of its energy needs while solar supplies less than one percent.
