1984 anti-Sikh riots: Court questions Jagdish Tytler’s role in influencing witness

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): A court in New Delhi on Wednesday rapped the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its closure report on Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, asking the agency what action has been taken on the allegation that the Congress leader tried to influence a witness. Tytler is accused of influencing a key witness of the violence. The CBI has been asked to respond to the court’s notice by June 26. Lawyer HS Phoolka expressed his concern over the CBI’s move to give clean chit Tytler in the case. HS Phoolka said that the complete statement of Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan contradicts with Tytler’s claims. As Amitabh Bachchan had said that he was in Teen Murti Bhavan near Indira Gandhi’s dead body on November 1, 1984. But during that time, he does not remember seeing Tytler.
