Central Govt working on a Rs. 1.5 Lakh Crore Financial Package for Bihar

Central Government is working on a special assistance package for Bihar worth Rs. 1.5 Lakh Crores, ahead of Assembly Elections which are scheduled to be held in October. The Package is likely to be announced by this month end.

According to a Report by MoneyControl.Com, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is working on a special package for Bihar which will be in the form of allocation for rail, road, IT, education, agriculture and food processing.

According to Hindi Newspapers, the package would ensure the following:

1. Rural Broadband Connectivity
2. 24 Hour Power Supply
3. Setting up of Vikramshila Central University
4. Expansion of IOCL Refinery in Barauni, More pipelines.
5. 4 new Agricultural Institutes/Colleges.
6. Development of Pisciculture in the State.
7. Development of Motihari and Nalanda as educational hub.

Last Month Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had met Arun Jaitley in New Delhi and reminded him of his budget speech about special financial package to Bihar on the lines of Andhra Pradesh.

He had also demanded the special financial package for to compensate the economic fallout of the 14th Finance Commission recommendations on the state. The CM also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had assured full cooperation of Center in Bihar’s Development.
